Wow! What an encouraging read, thank you so much for writing this! My friend finally got me to go to the gym with him, first time I’ve been in 5 years. Couldn’t have read this at a better time.
Bro who hurt you? Lmao. Don’t you have better things to do than reply to every comment here with 3 alt accounts and like all your own messages at 2 in the morning? Serious question bc that’s a terrible use of your time hahaha
Obviously not. A high percentage do but clearly not everyone. Lol why would you think that I think that? You’re retarded. I’m using my time zone because I don’t care about yours
Damn, this was great. I’ve been ripped and also looked like I work at a desk(current reality). I forgot how great all this can be. The line about the kids cracked me up because it’s true and really unexpected.
I'm 7 months into my programme with coach FHM. Noticing a lot more looks from women, so many double glances and "accidental" bumping into me. But aside from that, you begin to realise its the respect you get from your fellow men that actually hits deeper. Very enjoyable journey. Minor copers/seethers who give you evils when they know their GF is checking you out but that's about it. WAGMI
I want to add an addendum to #1. At least one of your (overweight) buddies will try to unload his ill-fitting clothes on you. I have a friend who twice now has offered to pass on some of his stuff that doesn't fit him anymore. First it was a couple of shirts and I'll never forget how he said "You're the only L-sized fit person I know". Later he offered to donate a couple of blazers that he apparently can no longer button up around his belly.
Sad. Sad because he's actually good looking, tall and has a broad back. He'd look spectacular if he slimmed down and put on some muscle mass.
A Lady Who Lifts stopping by here... interesting to read this and relate to a lot of it, especially the "you will be happy but it's never enough" piece. I lost ~70lbs and got somewhat jacked, as far as most women go, and a big body change like that is such a mindfuck. Losing weight can introduce all these new bodily anxieties I'd never considered before. Getting into lifting and changing my eating/moving habits is the best thing I've ever done for myself but becoming way more attuned to my body means I became way more attuned to every little thing, and that introduces a lot of opportunities to overthink and obsess.
I agree with the "stop and smell the roses" approach. Bodily satisfaction is not always linear and sometimes we have to pause and look around and really think about what we like about our bodies right now, especially when there is a firehose of content coming from every direction encouraging us to compare ourselves to other people (or to ourselves at different points).
Question regarding weighted dips: 37yrs been on your PPL for a year or so. I’m at 2 plates & 20+ good reps. Would you suggest adding weight to stay in the 12-20 rep range, or continue to add reps instead? I think I read AJAC warned against too heavy weighted dips on shoulders is why I ask.
